Wizard's Tip
Quick Office toolbar trick
You can customize toolbars by right-clicking a toolbar and choosing Customize to open the Customize dialog box, which contains many neat tricks. If you just want to move or copy a tool from one toolbar to another, you don’t need the Customize dialog box at all:
• To move a tool from one toolbar to another, hold down the [Alt] key and move it.
• If you want to copy the tool (so that it’s available on both toolbars), hold down both the [Ctrl] and [Alt] keys while you drag the tool. Of course, both toolbars must be visible for this shortcut to work.
This shortcut doesn’t work with 2007’s new Ribbon.
Outlook Trick
Change the subject line on incoming e-mail to make it easier to file, find, and sort.
Here’s how:
You can’t alter a subject line in the preview pane. Double-click on the message and open it before making your changes.
When you try to close it, Outlook will ask if you want to save the changes. (Alternatively, click on EDIT and select EDIT MESSAGE) to make your changes.
You can also edit the body of the message, perhaps to delete unwanted content or to add some comments of your own.
